Motivation Monday: Being Purposeful
For the past month I’ve been slacking big time on some of my
goals. At the beginning of the semester I wanted to be more dedicated to my
blog, my health (eating right/working out), and being more purposeful with my
actions. So far, I’ve worked out on average 4 times a week by going to spin and
Piyo. I’ve been decent with eating right, but I could be better.
I’m finally working on my blog! But the one goal that I’ve
faltered the most on is being more purposeful. Having intent with what I do and
say. How many times have you seen someone on Facebook say, “be nice”, “spread
love”, “why can’t people be more…” or
any other perpetual question of society.
In a way, I’ve become a hypocrite. I haven’t been as
purposeful as I can with my actions. I haven’t nurtured my relationships as
well as I could be and in a way I’ve become complacent. And I hate it! If I want
a peaceful environment or a more accepting social structure, then I have to promote
and evoke it. When was the last time you challenged yourself to promote
well-being of those around you with an active approach rather than passive. I
can throw shade all day but then that’d be taking away from my personal goals,
so here’s what I plan to do (maybe you should too).
Create a better
dialogue – You can’t gain anything from being quiet.
Expand your circle
– Is you surround yourself with only A, B, and C people then what are you
actually accomplishing.
Get out of your
comfort zone – Challenge yourself. If you hesitate to ask questions, ask
more. If you like being passive, initiate something for a start. Don’t deny
yourself new opportunities.
