Lavender Spring Bridal Shower
After months of planning and awaiting packages the day for my aunt’s bridal shower had finally arrived. Bridal showers have changed drastically in comparison to when our parents got married and have become more of a special event than before.
I’ve been involved with planning large scale events before
but this event had a larger emotional investment. What if she didn’t like it?
What if no one came? Is the theme strong enough? What do I get? With freak outs
aside, the first thing to do when planning is to create an excel sheet with a
plan.
I made this on Google sheets so it can be easily shared and
edited with others in the bridal party.
List out what you need: centerpieces, favors, add ons, and
decorations. It’s easier to keep an electronic list so you can click on links
and go directly to the page. My cousins and I used a lot of Pinterest ideas and
modified them to what we felt represented my aunt.
At the bottom I created I list with who was doing what and
when items would arrive depending if they were ordered. It’s important to be
aware of time! How long will it take to receive shipped items, is there enough
time to DIY something, who’d picking up/delivering, are all things that you
need to think about regardless of what you chose to spend your budget.
I ordered favors from Wedding Favors Unlimited – I received the
favors pretty fast, maybe a week tops. Even when I wasn’t sent enough stickers
for the favors, the customer service was amazing and they sent tracking info
for the missing labels and I received that quickly as well! I had a small freak
out and sent an email and opened an instant chat and they were all very
helpful.
It took about 5 minutes to design the label – they offer a
wide variety of colors, patterns, fonts, and symbols that you can mix and match
to create your own personalized favor.
As for centerpieces my cousins gathered mason jars and
frames and painted them with the wedding colors. Fun tip: remember to bring the
small paint bottles with you during the planning because things may break and
you have to re-make it.
If you haven’t noticed yet – my aunts only theme and desire
for the bridal party was that it be purple. The colors we used were based off
the bridesmaid’s dresses which are lilac, eggplant, and Victorian lilac. The
muted purples really helped balance the other purples.
Below are photos from the day that were really amazing! I
really wanted it to be an amazing day for my aunt since she almost didn’t have
one! Though there were stressful moments, it all came together in the end and
it worked out amazingly. Another element that really took the shower to the next level was the collective gift the bridesmaids gave to my aunt and her fiance. There are 10 bridesmaids total so it really allowed for us to get a bigger gift and something both of them would enjoy. My other aunt came up with the great idea to get them Adirondack chairs and it was such an appreciated and thoughtful gift.
